1.Nylon collection bowl down when installed the water separator and filter.
2.This filter has four ports, two inputs and two outputs. We provide two plugs for the extra two ports. If you need to use two plugs, you must install them to the filter and tighten them.
3.Before installing the filter, you have to remove those plugs, teflon-tape them, and re-install them.Prevent leaks from these plugs.
4.All of the above steps are very simple to operate, you can manually disassemble, and then use the tool to install tighten.

There is some confusion about drives made in 1985 and 1986 as to which drive you have. If you do not know which drive you have, a #1 “R” drive or a later MR/Alpha drive you have to look at your Drive serial number. If your serial number is BEFORE 6854393 it is an R it will use an early water pump kit UNLESS your lower unit has been updated at some time. If you can not identify a serial number, you can drop the lower unit.
If you have a pre-load pin on the top of the vertical shaft you have the earlier #1 or “R” drive & this is NOT the correct kit. If your vertical shaft does not have a pre-load pin, it is a MR or Alpha Gen 1 drive & this IS the correct kit.
The best way to be absolutely sure of the type of drive you have is to drop the lower unit & check to see if you have a preload pin or not.
This kit is NOT for the Generation II sterndrive which can be identified by a gear oil reservoir inside the boat.
Kit includes the impeller, wear plate, water tube, gaskets, o-rings, upper pump housing with water pump cup installed and the lower base with the pump seal installed. Please remember that the seal in the water pump base keeps water from the pump from entering your gearcase.
